Committee of 100, Honoree, 2004
Connie Young Yu. CHCP board member, was honored at the Committee of 100 gala
event "Eight Who Made a Difference: A Celebration of Chinese American Women in
Public Service". The ceremony honored Chinese-American Women in the Bay Area
who have made a difference by their lifelong contributions in the U.S. Connie
was recognized for her documentations of San Jose's Chinatowns and her
dedication to community service. The Committee of 100 is a national non-partisan
organization composed of diverse Chinese Americans who have achieved positions
of leadership in a broad range of professions. Connie is the author of
"Chinatown San Jose USA" which tells the story of Heinlenville Chinatown, where
once stood the original Joss House from which CHCP's Ng Shing Gung Museum is
replicated.
Gerrye Wong, co-founder of CHCP and board trustee, was honored at the
Committee of 100 gala event "Eight Who Made a Difference: A Celebration of
Chinese American Women in Public Service". The ceremony honored
Chinese-American Women in the Bay Area who have made a difference by their
lifelong contributions in the U.S. Gerrye was honored for her participation in
Chinese Historical Society of America and her contributions to CHCP. The
Committee of 100 is a national non-partisan organization composed of diverse
Chinese Americans who have achieved positions of leadership in a broad range of
professions.
