10th Anniversary Dragon Ball
Thanks to all who made CHCP’s Tenth Anniversary Dragon Ball a great success!
The event was sold out, with 600 Bay Area supporters filling the San
Jose Fairmont’s Imperial Ballroom. Ticket sales, program ads, and
individual and corporate donations netted $100,000 to help
update Ng Shing Gung exhibits, build a traveling exhibit of Chinese
American history, and to support the continuation of no-fee attendance
at the annual Chinese Summer Festival.
San Jose Vice-Mayor Margie Fernandez gave the opening greeting. Other
Guests included: US Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren, State
Assemblyman Mike Honda, Santa Clara County Supervisors Jim Beall, Pete
McHugh and Blanca Alvarado, and Milpitas Mayor Henry Manayan.
Assemblyman Honda and Mayor Manayan also donned costumes to participate
in the Chinese opera costume show.
CHCP recognized the following families for their leadership roles in the South Bay:
In addition, CHCP founding co-chairs Lillian Gong-Guy and Gerrye Wong
were recognized for spearheading the drive to restore the landmark Ng Shing Gung.
