APALI's 2023 Summer Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) is a six-week summer leadership program for students interested in exploring Asian American experience, identity, community, civic engagement, and non-traditional careers.
YLA 2023 is offered in collaboration with De Anza College as an Asian American Studies online class.
Each YLA participant will be supported in a team led by a Mentor Intern to experience unique learning opportunities including: Guest Speakers, Group Civic Project, Small-Group Learning, Personal Roadmap, and Community Building.
Eligibility: College students or entering high school seniors or juniors this fall.
Schedule: Mon, Tue, Wed, 12:30-3:00 pm, from July 3 to August 9, 2023.
Format: Online class, with in-person opportunities.
Application Process: Students complete APALI application to hold a space, and then apply for admission to De Anza College.
As a sought after program in its 25th year, there are only a few openings left. The priority due date was May 21, 2023.
