Student Internship Program

JOB DESCRIPTION

CHCP is providing an experiential learning and employment opportunity for college or post-secondary students as Student Interns to help advance CHCP’s mission, which is to promote, educate, and preserve Chinese and Chinese American history and culture with the people of Silicon Valley and beyond, through the Chinese American Historical Museum and community outreach activities.

This program is an excellent opportunity for students to learn communication skills, cultural competencies, marketing, and related skills.

Stipend available: $1,000 (up to $1,500 dependent on candidate’s experience and work duration)

RESONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

All Student Interns will docent at the Chinese American Historical Museum on Saturdays (minimum of 8 shifts).

For Student Education Interns (those working with the Education Committee):

• • Interns will attend at least one local educational or cultural field trip or outreach event.
  • Interns will participate in project work (minimum of 10 hours), which may include:
• • Supporting CHCP's Oral History Project (research, filming, and video editing)
  • Assisting with Public Archaeology Day programming for families & children
  • Promoting and preparing CHCP's "Pioneering the Valley" Traveling Exhibit for public venues
  • Distributing CHCP's "Uncovering Asian Experiences" video, curriculum, and other ethnic studies material to secondary schools in Santa Clara County

For Student Marketing Interns (those working with the Marketing Committee):

• • Interns will participate in project work (minimum of 15 hours), which may include:
  • • Developing content for social media platforms
    • Assisting with email marketing campaigns, newsletters, and event promotions
    • Supporting event promotion, community engagement, and partnerships
    • Assisting with general marketing initiatives to expand CHCP’s reach

FOR SPRING 2025

• Earliest start date is March 1, 2025.
• Latest completion date is May 31, 2025 (possible extension to June 30, 2025).
