Student Internship Program
JOB DESCRIPTION
CHCP is providing an experiential learning and employment opportunity for college or post-secondary students as Student Interns to help advance CHCP’s mission, which is to promote, educate, and preserve Chinese and Chinese American history and culture with the people of Silicon Valley and beyond, through the Chinese American Historical Museum and community outreach activities.
This program is an excellent opportunity for students to learn communication skills, cultural competencies, marketing, and related skills.
Stipend available: $1,000 (up to $1,500 dependent on candidate’s experience and work duration)
RESONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Complete at least eight shifts as a museum docent on Saturdays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
- Serve as a docent, introducing displays and answering questions.
- Attend training regarding the museum and basic local Chinese American history.
- Business casual dress and appearance is required during docent work hours.
- Minimum of 10 hours of project work, assisting with one or more of the following:

- Project: CHCP Historical Timeline -- Research and update content, produce web-friendly version.
- Project: Oral History -- Provide technical support for editing of recorded interviews of persons with lived experience of local Chinese American history and related tasks, such as storyboarding.
- Project: Assist in the production of augmented reality presentations related to sites important to local Chinese American history.
- Other Project options to be identified.
- Attend at least 1 local educational or cultural field trip or outreach event.
FOR SPRING 2026
- Earliest start date is March 1, 2026.
- Expected completion date is June 30, 2026 (possible extension).
