The Chinese Historical and Cultural Project (CHCP) was founded in 1987 to promote and preserve the history and culture of the Chinese and Chinese Americans in Santa Clara County; additionally, we promote cultural and educational projects for the betterment of the community, including investing in the future of our youth.
In tribute to our late co-founder, Lillian Gong-Guy, who dedicated her life to CHCP and many other community projects, we award the Lillian Gong-Guy Memorial Scholarship to Santa Clara County high school seniors of Chinese descent who demonstrate academic achievement, as well as involvement in their school and community. Scholarships are awarded to exemplary seniors based on academic achievement and a demonstration of community involvement and service. Scholarship awards range from $1,000 to $2,000.
2024 marks the tenth anniversary and last year of the Lillian Gong-Guy Memorial Scholarship program. During the ten years we are proud to have awarded 57 scholarships to high school seniors from 22 high schools throughout Santa Clara County. We extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the volunteers, sponsors, and students for honoring our late co-founder Lillian Gong-Guy.
