C100 Webinar: "Asian American Career Ceilings: Obstacles in Academia"

The twenty-eighth Committee of 100 (C100) Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative virtual event will feature a fireside chat on the topic of "Obstacles in Academia" scheduled for July 20, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:00pm ET (2:00 to 3:00pm PT).

The webinar panelists include three leading Asian American academics from three universities: Gordon H. Chang, Professor of History, Stanford University; Guiyou Huang, President, Western Illinois University; and Frank H. Wu, President, Queens College. All three are also members of Committee of 100. Peter Young, Chair of the Committee of 100 Asian American Career Ceilings Initiative and a Committee of 100 Member, will be the moderator.

The webinar will include a panel, Q&A and a networking session at the end. The panelists will discuss the obstacles to advancement that they had to overcome in their academic careers, how serious the issue is today, what they feel must change systemically in academia in order to solve the problem, and the advice they would give to attendees who are rising in the academic system.
