SDCHM Lecture: "China-Burma-India Theater: WWII’s Forgotten Theater"

  • April 19, 2025
  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM (PDT)
  • Online (via Zoom)

For this San Diego Chinese Historical Museum (SDCHM)'s edition of The Chinese American Experience & Beyond (TCAE&B) lecture, Major General Bill Chen, U.S. Army Retired, will highlight the U.S. and Chinese forces in the China-Burma-India (CBI) theater of operations and illuminate the role and contributions of Chinese Americans in the U.S. fighting units.

The CBI theater in World War II was less known than the Europe and Pacific theaters.  The CBI theater faced numerous strategic issues: such as geographic issues where China was blocked and had to rely on Hump airlift operations for resupply; leadership issues where Gen. Chennault did not get along with Gen. Stilwell nor his superiors in Washington; furthermore, at the time, the war in Europe was a higher priority.
