CHCP to be in SF Chinese New Year Parade

  • February 19, 2022
  • 5:15 PM - 9:00 PM
  • Starts from 2nd & Market Sts and ends at Kearny St & Columbus Ave in SF

The Chinese New Year Parade has been an annual San Francisco tradition since just after the Gold Rush. Over 100 units participate in the Chinese New Year Parade. The annual parade is televised live and rebroadcasted on Fox KTVU 2 and KTSF.

The San Francisco lunar new year parade is one of a kind, with spectacular floats, numerous marching bands, colorful costumes, lion dances, and the ever popular Golden Dragon ("Gum Lung") which is 288 feet long and carried by a large team of trained martial artists. There will be many celebrities participating, including the beautiful and talented Miss Chinatown U.S.A. and her court. This is one parade that is surely not to be missed, come rain or come shine!

CHCP will be in the 2022 Chinese New Year Parade!

2022 is an auspicious year for the Chinese Historical and Cultural Project (CHCP) as it celebrates its 35th Anniversary and the 30th Anniversary of the Chinese American Historical Museum (CAHM). To celebrate these milestones with pride and joy, CHCP will be one of the 100+ entries participating in the 2022 San Francisco Parade. So be sure to watch for CHCP's entry in the parade to include: CHCP's Hoong the Rainbow Dragon, costumed marchers in traditional Chinese Imperial attire, marchers wearing "Year of the Tiger" mascot costumes, skillful Lion Dancers, and more!
