SHF Lecture: “Tributes and Apologies: The Legacy of Chinese in California”

The Saratoga Historical Foundation (SHF) is hosting “Tributes and Apologies: The Legacy of Chinese in California” by CHCP Advisory Board member Connie Young Yu at 7:00 PM on October 25 on Zoom.

Connie will speak about the early Chinese immigrants to Santa Clara Valley, national anti-Chinese legislation, and several local excavations for redevelopment projects which have uncovered significant remnants of Chinese communities.

Connie Young Yu, a 4th generation Californian, is a writer, historian, and noted speaker. She has written extensively about Asian Americans, including scripts for documentary films and the book Chinatown, San Jose USA. She conducted oral history interviews of descendants of Chinese Railroad Workers for Stanford’s Chinese Railroad Workers in North American Project. She is currently working on history markers for Heinlenville Park in Japantown, San Jose.
