Tour of Oroville and Marysville

Please join artists from Hong Kong, invited by the SF Chinese Culture Center to produce art projects for the Hungry Ghost Festival, on this special tour of Oroville and Marysville. One main reason why these artists wish to visit is the Chinese community in Oroville celebrated the Hungry Ghost Festival annually each August from 1864 till 1929. This tour led by Anna Eng and David Lei will concentrate on Chinese American traditions, customs, rituals and spirituality in conversation with the artists from Hong Kong.

Itinerary:

• 9:30 am: Meet at Oroville Chinese Temple - 1500 Broderick St, Oroville, CA 95965 - Everyone responsible for their own transportation. We will try to coordinate carpools when possible.
• 11:00 am: Depart for historic Tong Fong Low Restaurant for a taste of authentic Chop Suey from 100-year-old recipe - 2051 Robinson St, Oroville, CA 95965
• 12:30 pm: Depart for Bok Kai Temple Marysville - 1st St & D St, Marysville, CA 95901
• 2:30 pm: Walk to Chinese American Museum of Northern California - 303 1st St, Marysville, CA 95901
• 4:00 pm: Tour ends
