Join the Chinese Family History Group (CFHG) for a webinar on “Personal Storytelling: Chinese Family Histories on Screen” with filmmaker Patty Fong and Eseel Borlasa.
Patty will share two short films, “Dear Sally ” and “More Than a Roast Chicken,” memorializing her family stories. In conversation with Arts Programmer and Producer Eseel, Patty will describe how the Digital Histories program at Visual Communications, a nonprofit dedicated to highlighting Asian Pacific American heritage, helped her develop stories, learn filmmaking concepts, and produce movies to document her family history.

Patty Fong is a filmmaker passionate about preserving family histories and sharing stories that resonate across generations and communities. Born and raised in Southern California, she has had her films presented to audiences in California, Oregon, and Missouri and featured as inflight programming on Alaska Airlines. She is a Digital Histories Fellow at Visual Communications in Los Angeles.
Eseel Borlasa (she/her) loves mixtapes, film, and community. As a film programmer and publicist, her work centers on building meaningful connections between artists and audiences while amplifying underrepresented voices. She is guided by care and the belief that documenting and sharing our stories strengthens community power and creates lasting change.
