Celebrate Lunar New Year at the Asian Art Museum (AAM), with lions, laughter, and good luck, courtesy of the Lion Dance Team from UC Berkeley’s Vietnamese Student Association. A traditional art form in Vietnamese and Chinese culture, the lion dance combines movement and martial arts in a playful and spectacular experience for all ages.
In addition to two dynamic lion dance performances and all-day Mahjong, a large-scale Chinese brush painting demonstration (of a horse, of course!) by Pauline Tsui offers inspiration for Lunar-New-Year-themed art activities. In addition, author Eddie Ahn, the creator of graphic memoir "Advocate," will talk about community, Chinatown, and environmental justice.
